Exploring the Creative Borough

How we’ve been working with the young people of Nuneaton & Bedworth so far this year

We have loved immersing ourselves in the borough of Nuneaton & Bedworth and all of the artistic talent it has to celebrate.

Recent street art workshops at GRIT were a hit and since then we have been getting to know young, local artists by going out to their spaces.

Feedback from our recent street art workshops.

Together with local creative businesses and young people who are interested in art, we’ve been planning some exciting things for the year ahead.

We’re gearing up to announce some great projects very soon but in the meantime, we wanted to shout out to all of the people and organisations that have worked with us over the last couple of months.

”Our priority has been to immerse ourselves in this area of Warwickshire and really see the community through their own eyes – what do young people want from creativity in their borough? How can we facilitate this?”

Sketch it out

We loved seeing what was going on at Sketch Club this month at GRIT, pictured above.

There’s so much going on at Nuneaton’s newest creative space and it was great to see something that was bringing people together to draw, make or just chat.

The next time ‘sketchers’ are getting together is today, Wednesday 8th May, 7pm-9pm so head on down. Or find GRIT Art Central on social media to hear about future, similar opportunities.

A final but related shout out to the latest beautiful street art that has appeared this month (below), obviously created on May the 4th (if you know, you know).

Vibrant and breathtaking work, well done to N4T4 and Wingy. More on this theme coming soon (get your spray cans ready).

As well as seeing us at GRIT, you may have also met us last month at:

It’s been wonderful to meet so many creative young people from across the borough, whose interests and talents spanned so many different art forms.

Our workshops attendees were excited to come together with each other to share their creativity and passions and talk about what they want from the arts in Nuneaton and Bedworth.

At our free sessions we have been exploring how you lead in the arts as a young person.

How do you plan and produce art events in your area? What would these look like?

Thanks to everyone who has joined us so far.

So much to choose from

We can’t wait to share more opportunities with you soon.

In the meantime why not head on down to the Student Lounge, get to the next Sketch Club at GRIT or a future Youth Impact session.

There’s so much to get involved with in Nuneaton with if you’re interested in the arts.

Opportunity of the week

We can’t talk art in Nuneaton & Bedworth without asking you to check-out this amazing paid trainee opportunity for young people in the area, from Artichoke.
