Young people have been leaving a lasting footprint on the art scene of Nuneaton (metaphorically and literally!).

An exciting day

We kicked off the month of April with some art workshops at GRIT Art Central in Nuneaton. And what a fab day had by all!

The building was buzzing with a constant stream of budding artists throughout the day. They worked alongside talented local artists Nathan Parker and Alisha Miller to create their own pieces of art using street art methods.

“It’s always an honour to work with Alisha and Nathan. Living and working in their hometown, Nuneaton, meant they really connected to those who came along today. It was wonderful to talk with curious by-passers as well who left having found out more about what GRIT is going to be doing in the community this year and beyond.”

It was truly magical watching the concentration the young people gave to learning the techniques of stencils, spraying and drawing. Witnessing their pride in their finished pieces of art was priceless.

“I hope we see many more young people engaging with our projects in the future,” said Kim, our Shout Out for the Arts coordinator.

Those who attended the free workshop were asked to think about one question – what is art for? Is it for here, now, or the future? What does it mean to you? What words come to mind?

”Art is healing. Enjoyment. Communication. Connection. Art is therapy. Art brings us together. Art is for treasuring. Art is for all. Art is for life. A way to express yourself when words or actions aren’t enough.”
