Child Friendly Warwickshire

Child Friendly Warwickshire is the exciting programme that works with children and young people as well as businesses, community groups and council services.

It is designed to help make Warwickshire as safe, stable and full of opportunity for young people as possible with access to good health, education and other services.

Child Friendly Warwickshire is an open invitation to everyone across the county to work together to make Warwickshire the best place in which to grow up.

It helps children and young people:

  • Be heard – have a voice to shape where they live 
  • Be safe – have secure, safe and stable home lives 
  • Be healthy – have access to the health services they need 
  • Be skilled – enjoy the learning they need to achieve their goals
  • Be happy – enjoy growing up in a green county full of opportunities

Compton Verney

Compton Verney is a venue in Warwickshire, ”an extraordinary place filled with inspiration and imagination, outside and in”. They invite their visitors to ”step out of the ordinary with 120 acres of art, nature, and creativity”.

They offer a diverse range of high-quality education programmes for primary, secondary, further and higher education, that link directly to the curriculum and examination syllabuses.

Their education, young people and family work is designed and delivered by artists, makers and education experts. They use play, making and imaginative learning in their workshops and opportunities. They also aim to bring creativity to those in the community who are most in need.

Heritage and Culture Warwickshire

Heritage and Culture Warwickshire provides a range of services that help local communities, schools and visitors connect and engage with their local heritage.

They run hundreds of events annually across the county for children and adults to discover their heritage, have fun and learn something new. There is something for everyone including walks, talks, tours, crafty workshops, school sessions, one-off events and exhibitions, all of which highlight and share Warwickshire’s heritage and culture.

Being a member of Warwickshire Cultural Education Partnership means that Heritage and Culture Warwickshire can support young people to connect with their local heritage too.

Motionhouse

Founded in 1988 by Louise Richards and Kevin Finnan MBE, Motionhouse is one of the world’s great touring dance-circus companies. From full-length productions for theatre touring to work for outdoor settings and large-scale performance events, their sell-out productions integrate athletic physicality, powerful narrative, incredible digital imagery and emotive sound scores.

They deliver an excellent education and training programme at their studio in Leamington Spa, throughout the UK, and further afield. They offer a wide range of learning and training projects in schools and in the community, for students and for young professionals, focusing on skills-development and creativity. Motionhouse is supported by Arts Council England with additional support from Warwick District Council and is a Birmingham Hippodrome Associate Company.

Royal Shakespeare Company

The RSC believes that every young person should have access to and benefit from an arts rich education. Their practitioners work with young people, teachers, artists and adults in classrooms, on stages, online and in communities to:

  • Unlock potential by developing life, language and theatre skills, building self-confidence and enhancing life chances.
  • Level the playing field – not all children and adults have equal access to Shakespeare and the arts and we work to change that.
  • Challenge and explore the relevance of Shakespeare’s work to our lives and world today.

At Rugby Art Gallery & Museum families, adults and children can discover, create, learn and enjoy their visit as they explore the area’s strong cultural heritage and bright artistic future.

The heritage journey spans Roman times, Rugby’s rich industrial heritage, and the birth of the famous game. Three changing gallery spaces showcase exciting exhibitions of contemporary and modern art as well the talents of local artists and craftspeople.

Students and school groups can be inspired and challenged in new and exciting ways by an innovative education programme designed to bring fresh creativity to learning.

Warwickshire Libraries

There are a range of library services available for free, across the Warwickshire area. Book loans, family activities, e-learning, career events and much more.

Warwickshire Libraries also produces many initiatives which engage and support young people in their literacy journey, such as the Warwickshire Young Poet Laureate programme.
